Without a doubt the most frequent conversation we’ve had with people recently is how lucky we are to be surrounded by such beautiful surroundings. Most people have found a new walk or footpath that they never knew existed, and whether cycling or walking, there was plenty of choice of how to spend your one exercise trip out a day!

It got us thinking that in times before words like lockdown or R rates were even in our vocabulary, the draw of moving to Cranleigh and the surrounding villages was often the brilliant local amenities, from the Arts Centre to the Leisure Centre, great local shops and pubs. Whilst at the moment these aren’t available to us in the same way, they will again become an important part of village life without a doubt.

As will the wide selection of excellent state and public schools and the sports clubs ranging from rugby, cricket, tennis, football and golf – not forgetting stool ball, netball and petanque!!  There really is something available for everyone and more importantly not an hours drive away, but often a short walk, which makes everything that much more accessible.  There is truly something for all ages and interests.

For people considering making a move to somewhere greener, with much more open space and easy access to the countryside, our local villages nestled at the bottom of the Surrey Hills and close to Sussex border offer the perfect balance.  With a trip to the beautiful south coast being less than an hour too.

One aspect that has come through even more strongly in recent times is that even though Cranleigh is (possibly!) the largest village in England, its community spirit and support for everyone is truly amazing.  From the independent shops that have offered home delivery to those shielding, to the pubs that offered us Take Away or local produce, when items were not available widely.  We have been so impressed.
