Why you should be considering Rudgwick and Ewhurst for your next house move

The property market locally remains very active and there is very little sign this will slow towards winter as can sometimes be seen in prior years.  People aren’t looking to wait until Spring to move their keen to do so now!

Due to short supply, it’s even more important than ever people broaden out their location search, and what we’ve seen happen time after time is that people fall in love with villages they may have initially ruled out of their search.  With more people working in a hybrid blend of home and office some locations with fewer transport links are now becoming more popular as the need for a train station or bus connections are not as high a priority.

Another draw especially for those already based in the larger village locations locally is that you can find your budget stretches further in some of these locations, with a difference between Surrey and Sussex being enough to make that next step up in property a possibility for many.

For those considering making a move to somewhere greener, with much more open space and easy access to the countryside, our local villages nestled at the bottom of the Surrey Hills and close to the Sussex border offer the perfect balance.  With trips to the beautiful south coast being less than an hour away too.

We've long been fans (and residents!) of the village of Ewhurst as it is the quintessential Surrey village with a population of about 2,500 nestling at the foot of the Surrey Hills, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The benefits to the village are due to its rural surroundings being ideal for walkers, cyclists, and equestrian pursuits including the Hurtwood Park Polo Club which enjoys a wonderful setting with views of the Surrey Hills. As well as its Open Garden event in the summer it’s easy to see why people fall in love with the family-friendly village of Ewhurst.

Local amenities include the village store, social club, the Bulls Head pub, a Grade 1 Listed Church, and popular C of E Infant School. The centre of the village is overlooked by several period cottages.

Despite its rural setting the village is not far from the towns of Guildford and Horsham, which are within 11 miles.

Rudgwick is a wonderful village also, just tipping into West Sussex but within 10 min drive of Cranleigh it has two village pubs and an ancient church which is located at the top of Church Street. The homes are varied ranging from period cottages, Victorian and post-war properties, to recently built new homes most of which sit on either side of Church Street.

The area is surrounded by countryside which has many footpaths and bridle paths ideal for walkers and equestrian activities.A small supermarket provides means not having to travel too far for the essentials, and there is also a chemist, hairdressers, doctor's surgery and dentist. The village also benefits from a number of local businesses being based at the Old Brick Works including the highly recommended Firebird Brewery and The Milk Churn Cafe with its signature dish of locally made Sussex Charmer on Toast! These famous cheese toasties are a thing of joy!

If you hadn’t considered these locations before we would really recommend taking some time to visit them and to arrange viewings we have a number of beautiful properties available in these villages and are happy to provide our local expert knowledge to help you decide if these locations match your requirements.
