Star Awards - Top teachers, heroic heads and awesome classroom assistants wanted
Everyone remembers their favourite
teacher – those who went above and beyond to get us through exams, made maths
fun or blew our minds with cool science.
And now parents, pupils and governors
across Surrey and Sussex are being asked to nominate a star teacher from their
community, to recognise all they do for the next generation.
As part of its Star Award, estate agent Roger Coupe is on the look-out for top teachers who go the extra mile for their students. The agent, which has served the south Surrey/West Sussex border area since 1991, launched the awards in October and is now keen to find a deserving recipient for its next accolade – star teacher.
James
Britton, partner at Roger Coupe, said: “The work teachers do is so important,
helping to mould, guide and inspire future generations. But they also work
under great pressure with government targets, Ofsted visits and exam results
all adding to their mounting to-do lists, so we thought they deserved to be recognised.
“As a community-focused firm, we
launched the Star Awards to honour those in our neighbourhoods who go above and
beyond – and now it is the turn of those unsung nursery, school and college
workers to have their time in the limelight.
“Perhaps your drama teacher stays
late every night for a month to ensure the annual summer play is ready for
curtain up, your PE assistant comes in early to offer extra football coaching,
or your head teacher gives up their breaks to help youngsters with revision or
homework.
“Whoever it is, and whatever it is
they do that makes them a teaching star, we want to hear from you. And our
award is not just for teachers, but anyone who works in the classroom including
assistants and special educational needs support staff.”
Nominations are now open for the star
teacher category and pupils, parents and governors from schools in and around
Roger Coupe’s catchment area, which includes Cranleigh, Ewhurst, Rudgwick, Dunsfold, Alfold, Shamley Green, Wonersh, Forest
Green, Loxwood, Ifold and Kirdford, are invited to put forward the name of who
they think should take the title.
To make a nomination email starawards@pmwcom.co.uk with a short
description of your nominee, why they deserve to win, their contact details and
where they live. Please also include your own contact details.
Nominations can be made until midnight on 27th February 2017.
